This presentation contains a histological classification of oral and oropharyngeal tumours developed under the direction of the World Health Organization International Reference Centre for the Histological Definition and Classification of Oral and Oropharyngeal tumours at the Department of Pathology, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, India. The presentation also contains brief notes which describe each type of tumour. Color photomicrographs of representative tumours are included. Oral and oropharyngeal tumours are classified into seven broad categories: tumours of squamous epithelium, tumours of glandular epithelium, tumours of soft tissues, tumours of the melanogenic system, tumours of disputed or uncertainhistogenesis, unclassified tumours, tumour-like conditions. Most of these categories are subdivided into benign and malignant groups.
