Clasificación histológica internacional de tumores ;
no. 7
This program contains the histological classification of salivary gland tumors developed under the auspices of the World Health Organization International Reference Centre for the Histological Classification of Salivary Gland Tumours at theBland-Sutton Institute of Pathology, Middlesex Hospital, London, England. This program contains brief notes which describe each type of tumour and color photomicrographs of representative tumours. According to the program salivary glands are comparatively simple structurally. Their ducts and acini, however, can give use to a considerable number of histologically distinct tumour types. Consequently, these tumors have been classified in a variety of ways in a variety of countries. These variations were taken into consideration in determining the following classification scheme. The major divisions and subdivisions of this scheme are as follows: epithelial tumours, adenomas, mucoepidermoid tumour, acinic cell tumours, carcinomas; non-epithelial tumours, unclassified tumours; allied conditions, benign lymphoepithelial lesions, sialosis, oncocytosis.
